Happy Birthday Emalee!

Last weekend we got to spend time celebrating my little sister's birthday! It was lots of fun! In the spirit of the birthday weekend tradition, we made the absolute most of it. Even though it was crazy bad weather, we all bundled up and headed down to SLC for the Jazz game! It was quite the adventure getting down there, but we made it safe and had a great time!

We made the stop at In-N-Out for dinner! So Yummy!

She is in hamburger bliss...

Go JAZZ Go!

We were literally the last row on the top... But that didn't stop our fun :)

Kaden was super excited! This was the first game that he's been to that he actually cared about what was happening.

Birthday Girl!

Kade's Jr. Jazz jersey number is 20! So naturally his favorite player is Hayward!

Sorry for the mega blur on this one, but we got to watch the alcohol control people head in and escort two fella's right on out for bringing in their own booze. Pretty much cracked me up!

Yay for a win!

The Thursday before Em's birthday my mom and I had this great idea. Instead of making a birthday cake, why not make a cupcake cake! That way we could shape it like an elephant, which happens to be Em's favorite thing, and it would be super cute! Well, on paper this idea is so darling and fun. To actually make it happen is a whole other story. So after 48 cupcakes and about an hour of frosting we had a pretty cute cake :)

Bryan was soooooooooooo excited about putting the bow together!

There's a first time for everything! Including piping frosting :)

I, for one, find this absolutely darling!

Ha! Priceless!

Family dinner before the party!

My Daddy's famous homemade chicken noodle soup! Beyond delicious :)

Homemade wheat bread!

Yay!

I just love my dad :)

Ah... Sisterly love :)

All in all, it was a great weekend packed with lots of fun :)

Thanksgiving in January!

Back in November, Winco had this great deal going... If you spent $100 you could get a free turkey! Well, my intention was to go in and do all the regular shopping we needed and if the turkey happened, then great. If not, I was ok. Well I decided that I was going to snag a turkey while I was back in that section so if I made that great $100 mark I wouldn't have to do the run to the back of the store to grab one. As I was checking out I watched as the number continued to grow. Sure enough, my total was $100.85! Sweet! A turkey for free! My parents said I could store it in their deep freezer as long as they could help eat it :)

Well the holidays came and went and while we had plenty of turkey dinners, we still had our very own to tackle! As we were planning our meals last week, Bryan brought up the turkey. So we decided to make our turkey dinner! Yay! I was soooo excited! I knew it was going to be absolutely delicious! As we figured out what we needed to buy and make, we realized that we were going to need some advice. Bryan called his mom and got all the wonderful recipes for the turkey, stuffing and gravy and I decided to attack the rolls and pies. My mom said she would help so she took charge of the potato area. Mashed and sweet :)

Preparation started Thursday night when Kaden and Bryan got the bread ready for the stuffing. Early Saturday morning I put the turkey in the sink to thaw. Sunday morning the real action began! Bryan worked on all things turkey while I whipped up a pumpkin pie and a chocolate banana cream. Our entire house smelled just delightful! We managed to get all of our prep complete and headed off to church. When we got home I was so excited! Our home smelled like Thanksgiving! Yay! It was a success! My family began to arrive and we had a delightful Thanksgiving in January :)

It kinda reminds me of Charlie Brown Thanksgiving :)

How cute is he?! ;)
